What is AI Translations?

Break the language barrier in your service desk

Whether you're supporting customers across Europe, managing a multilingual workforce, or operating a global service desk, Halo AI Translations removes language as a barrier. Every ticket, update, and knowledge article is translated automatically — agents see their language, customers see theirs.

Real-time translation

Tickets translate the moment they arrive. Agents see content in their preferred language without any manual steps.

Two-way replies

When an agent responds, Halo automatically translates the reply back into the customer's language before sending.

Knowledge article translation

Self-service portal articles are translated on demand, helping customers find answers without raising a ticket.

How it works

From customer message to agent reply — in any language

1

Ticket arrives

A customer submits a ticket in French, German, Japanese, or any supported language. Halo detects the language automatically.

2

Azure translates

Halo passes the content through Azure Cognitive Services and stores both the original and translated text alongside the ticket.

3

Everyone reads their language

The agent sees English (or their configured language). When they reply, the customer receives it translated back into their native language.

Who it's for

Real-world scenarios where AI Translations makes a difference

Global enterprise

Support teams across multiple countries working in a single Halo instance, each seeing content in their own language without separate tools or workflows.

International customer base

Serve customers who don't speak your support team's language without hiring bilingual agents or outsourcing. Every customer gets a native-language experience.

Multilingual workforce

UK-based organisations with staff who speak English as a second language — reduce friction for both agents and end users by letting everyone work in their preferred language.

Mergers & acquisitions

Bring acquired organisations onto a single Halo instance even when they operate in a different language. Consolidate without forcing language change.

Halo integration included. Azure usage billed to you.

The Azure Translator integration is built into every Halo licence — there is no additional charge from Halo to use it. It connects to your own Azure subscription: Azure provides a free tier of 2 million characters per month, with standard translation beyond that at approximately $10 per million characters. For most organisations, the free tier is more than sufficient. A monthly character limit can be set in Halo to keep costs predictable.

FAQ

Common questions

Which languages does Halo AI Translations support?
Azure Cognitive Services supports 100+ languages. Any language Azure supports is available in Halo, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, and more.
Does translation add latency to ticket processing?
No. Translation happens asynchronously in the background. Agents typically see translated content within a second or two of the ticket arriving — there is no perceptible delay in the ticket creation process.
Can we choose which portals or queues use translation?
Yes. Translation is configured per-portal in Halo's administration settings. You can enable it for specific customer-facing portals while leaving internal queues unchanged, giving you full control over where translation is active.
Is the original text preserved?
Yes. Halo stores both the original and translated versions of each ticket. Agents can toggle to see the original text at any time — useful for verification, compliance, or dispute resolution.
Does this require an Azure subscription?
Yes. AI Translations connects to your own Azure Translator resource. Setup takes minutes: create an Azure Translator resource in your Azure portal, copy the API key, and paste it into Halo's integration configuration. Azure provides a free tier of 2 million characters per month — sufficient for many organisations. Beyond that, standard Azure pricing applies at approximately $10 per million characters. The Halo integration itself carries no additional charge.
