Every ITSM vendor says its tool follows best practice. PinkVERIFY is how you check. It is the original independent certification for ITSM tools, started by Pink Elephant in 1999, and an assessor tests a tool process by process against best practice requirements.

Halo version 2.250.32 is certified for 24 processes, and this is its third year on the register. Version 2.250 is Halo's 2026 final release, so the certification covers the platform customers are running today.

What PinkVERIFY checks

For each process, the assessor checks two things: does the tool have the functions the process needs, and does it use the terms practitioners expect. The criteria are aligned with several ITSM frameworks and with ISO/IEC 20000, the international standard for service management.

A vendor is certified for each process separately. That makes the process count the useful number. It tells you how much of your service management a tool has been independently checked against, not just whether it has a badge.

Why it matters if you're choosing a tool

It's an outside check. A vendor's feature list is the vendor's word. PinkVERIFY is an assessor's, made against published criteria. It makes a good first filter for a shortlist.

It reaches past the service desk. Nine of Halo's certified processes sit outside traditional IT support, from vendor and financial management to project and organisational change. That's the ground enterprise service management covers, and it's independent backing for running more than IT on one platform.

AI is in scope too. Halo is one of only eight tools on the register certified for AI Capability. More on what Halo's AI does on our Halo AI page.

Our read

Certification tells you the tool can support a process. It doesn't design the process for you. Two organisations on the same certified platform can end up with very different service desks, depending on how each process is set up.

That's the part we work on. If you're weighing Halo against another tool, or want to check your own Halo against the processes you actually run, Allied ESM can scope that with you. Get in touch.
