One of the biggest factors in a smooth Virima Discovery deployment is how prepared the environment is before we start. When the server is provisioned, the firewall rules are confirmed, and the right credentials are ready, we can go from kickoff to live scans in days rather than weeks.
We've put together a practical pre-deployment checklist that walks IT and infrastructure teams through everything they need to have in place before Allied ESM begins the implementation. It covers five areas:
What's in the checklist
- Scoping your environment — sizing questions that determine how many Discovery App instances are needed
- Discovery App server requirements — OS, CPU, RAM, disk, and network connectivity
- Network and firewall rules — key ports and protocols to review with your network team
- Credentials by asset type — what to prepare for Windows, Linux, VMware, network devices, databases, and more
- Cloud prerequisites — one-time setup steps for AWS IAM and Azure App Registration
The checklist is written for the person responsible for the infrastructure being discovered — typically a systems administrator, network engineer, or IT manager. It doesn't assume prior knowledge of Virima. If you're planning a Virima implementation, or you're in early conversations with us, this is the right starting point.
If you work through the checklist and have questions about any of the requirements — particularly around network segmentation, credential setup, or cloud configuration — get in touch. We'll talk you through what's needed for your specific environment before the engagement begins.
