How it works

Scheduled data sync, built into Halo

The Halo Integrator runs on a schedule and imports data from compatible tools, keeping your Halo instance accurate without manual exports, CSV uploads, or custom scripting.

Recurring scheduled imports

The Integrator runs on a configured schedule (typically overnight for large syncs), pulling the latest data from connected tools automatically. You can also trigger a manual import at any time from within Halo.

Native integrations only

The Halo Integrator works exclusively with tools that have a native Halo integration: Salesforce, Okta, Entra ID, ConnectWise and more. It cannot be used with custom or third-party middleware connections.

Cloud and on-prem tools

Cloud-hosted integrations (Salesforce, Okta, Entra ID) can sync using Halo's own hosted Integrator with no setup needed. On-prem tools like Active Directory or Lansweeper require a locally hosted Integrator instance running on your network.

Monitoring and error logs

Every Integrator run is logged inside Halo at Configuration > Integrations > Halo Integrator. Agents can be notified by email on errors, and you can configure an alert if the Integrator has not run within a set number of hours.

Three deployment options

Types of Halo Integrator

Although it is a single application, the Halo Integrator is deployed in three different ways depending on where your Halo instance is hosted and which tools you need to sync.

Option 1

Hosted Integrator

Managed by Halo. No setup required. Enable it per-integration with a single checkbox in your Halo configuration. Available automatically to all cloud-hosted Halo customers.

Best for: cloud-hosted Halo + cloud tools

Option 2

Locally Hosted Integrator

You download and run the Integrator application on your own server. Required for syncing on-prem tools (Active Directory, Lansweeper, SCCM). Also used when you need faster or more frequent syncs than the hosted version offers.

Option 3

DB Integrator

A variant of the locally hosted Integrator with Halo's API built directly in. It connects to the Halo database rather than going via the API. Only available to customers who self-host their Halo instance.

Best for: on-prem (self-hosted) Halo instances

As Halo adds new native integrations, they become available in the Halo Integrator. The tools below all support scheduled syncing, keeping users, assets and records current without manual intervention.

Choosing the right option

Which type of Halo Integrator do you need?

The right option depends on two things: where your Halo instance is hosted, and whether the tools you need to sync are cloud-based or on your network.

Cloud-hosted Halo + cloud tools (Salesforce, Okta, Entra ID…)
Use the Hosted Integrator. Nothing to install. Enable the sync per-integration from your Halo configuration.
Cloud-hosted Halo + on-prem tools (Active Directory, Lansweeper, SCCM…)
Use the Locally Hosted Integrator. Install the application on a server that can reach both your on-prem tool and the internet.
Cloud-hosted Halo + you need more frequent syncs than the hosted schedule allows
Use the Locally Hosted Integrator. You control the sync schedule via the local application. Alternatively, contact Halo support to adjust the hosted schedule.
Self-hosted (on-prem) Halo instance
Use the DB Integrator. Available in your Halo WebApp folder. Connects directly to the Halo database rather than going via the API.

What does the Halo Integrator actually do?

Is the Halo Integrator included in the standard Halo licence?
Yes. The Halo Integrator is a native feature of Halo and is included in the standard licence. There is no add-on or middleware subscription required. For cloud-hosted Halo customers, the hosted version requires no setup; you simply enable it per-integration from within Halo configuration.
Can I use the Halo Integrator with a custom-built integration?
No. The Halo Integrator only works with tools that have a native Halo integration. It cannot be used to schedule syncs from custom integrations, third-party middleware, or tools that connect to Halo via a bespoke API connection rather than a native module.
How do I know if the Halo Integrator has run successfully?
Logs for every Integrator run are stored in Halo at Configuration > Integrations > Halo Integrator > Backend Service Monitoring. You can view the schedule, click into individual run logs, and configure per-agent email notifications for errors. You can also set an alert to fire if the Integrator has not run within a specified number of hours.
